Optional guardian permission
Choose whether Astra helps plan practice.
A separate sign-off and a choice for each child. The regular reading game stays available without it.
Effective September 11, 2026
Notice version 2026-09-11-v1. Provided by Star Seeker Games, a DBA of Bare Getaways LLC.
Your choice, for each child
Astra is an optional feature that uses OpenAI to suggest the focus, familiar words to review, and a limited number of new words for a future StarSeeker mission. You can use the regular reading game without Astra. Signing this notice does not turn Astra on: you must also choose each child in your family account. Children added later start with Astra off.
What is shared with OpenAI
For a child you select, StarSeeker sends a structured learning summary: current reading stage and response tier; reading-skill practice counts and mastery estimates; counts of independent, supported, incorrect, and unclassified answers; familiar-word review totals; recent session and mission counts; and speech-skill scores and result counts already collected through separately authorized voice coaching. The request also includes permitted curriculum words and sounds and reference labels that connect a suggestion to its supporting summary. It does not include the child's name, guardian contact details, account identifiers, recordings, transcripts, or a diagnosis.
What Astra can and cannot do
StarSeeker checks Astra's suggestions against the child's available curriculum and its own limits before using them. An existing mission is not rewritten. Astra can make mistakes; its suggestions are not a diagnosis, assessment by a professional, or a promise of learning improvement. A failed or unavailable request leaves the regular mission planner available.
A narrow, optional addition to the privacy notices
For a child you explicitly enable, this signed notice adds the OpenAI learning-summary use described here to the Privacy Policy and Children's Privacy Notice. Their limits on other external AI sharing continue to apply. This permission does not authorize microphone access, speech recording, voice processing, model training, or sharing with another AI provider. Those uses require their own applicable permissions. StarSeeker enables OpenAI processing only after verifying the provider's Zero Data Retention controls for this service; your signature alone does not activate an unready service.
Change your mind and review your records
Turn Astra off for any child in the family account at any time. This stops new Astra requests for that child and prevents an in-flight answer or an earlier Astra suggestion from being used after revocation is checked. It cannot undo processing that already happened. You can review the signed notice version and acceptance time, manage child permissions, and request export or deletion through the family account under the Data Retention and Deletion Policy. The ordinary game remains available when Astra is off.
